This dental application of CT imaging, has significant benefits over conventional 2-dimensional x-rays:

• Removes superimposition of other anatomy for better clarity.
• Allows visualization of smaller abscesses and other pathology, allowing them to be caught earlier in the disease process.
• No size distortion for better measuring.
• The 3D dataset can be used in planning complex procedures such as dental implant planning.

While not a first line image, having CBCT technology available in our office improves our diagnostic abilities in tricky situations and helps us plan more complex procedures.
